David spent 20 years with the Australian Federal Police and 22 years serving in the Australian Army Reserve.  He served 3 times with the United Nations in Cyprus (UNFICYP) in 1991 and 1996 and was part of the 1st Australian police contingent to UNAMET in East Timor in 1999.  His interest in military history orginated from research into his grandfathers military service in WWI.  He is married with two boys and living in Melbourne.
